Jay Meyer, D.P.M.

drMid-Michigan is my home. Born and raised in the metro Detroit area and after receiving a B.S. degree with honors from Michigan State University, I could think of no better location to begin a medical practice and raise my family. A career in podiatry began from an intense desire to help others, along with the recognition that my grandfather had succumbed to the effects of diabetes and amputation. I graduated Cum Laude from the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and then completed a surgical residency at North Detroit General Hospital. Podiatry Plus began in March 1986 as a co-partnership with my best friend, Larry Nishon. I am board re certified in foot and ankle surgery and maintain a fellowship in the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine. I maintain active surgical staff privileges at Sparrow, Ingham Regional and the Michigan Surgical Center. We are affiliated with the Sparrow wound clinic and are on the consulting staff of the Sports Medicine Department of Michigan State University. My professional mission is to reduce the serious effects that diabetes plays on the human foot.

Our practice began across from the old Okemos High School in 1986 and has grown exponentially. Our two Lansing offices (Okemos and Delta Township) added extra capacity to help us serve the community better. We recently upgraded our offices with digital radiography and electronic medical records to keep our practice at the forefront of medical care going into the twenty first century.

My family is the most important part of my life. Cindy and I have been married for 26 years. We began dating in High School and she is the love of my life. We have three wonderful children to keep us busy when I'm away from the office. I enjoy gardening, reading about American History and I have a passion for ice hockey which I have coached at the travel level for 15 years. In fact, my youngest son plays for the Okemos High School Varsity, so you might still find me at the rink.

I will truly never forget the out poring of sympathy from this community following my older son's serious back injury several years back and the help and support our family received upon our return from Colorado. I can think of no where else I would want to give back some of my expertise. Go State!
